I received an email yesterday from Kobus van der Westhuizen the owner of Rhino bullets in RSA. These bullets are a fine product incorporating a solid shank rear section and a bonded core front section. Kobus says he is hoping to have his bullets marketed in Canada in 2007, which is very good news.

Bill Isenbarger, the importer for the USA sent me an email saying the unfavourable exchange rates mean he will no longer be importing them. The prices were US$29.50 per box. In .311 or smaller calibers they were 50/box, in larger calibers 25/box.

I got the same email from Bill, and when I emailed him he said he was out of the .375/380's I am looking for. Which is why I contacted Kobus directly. It will be interesting to see what kind of prices Rhino can give us through a Canadian supplier.

I think US$29.50 for a box of 25 is hardly cheap.
 
I'm not denying that.
That's bloody expensive.
But I'm paying the same amount or a little more in Aussie dollars for Woodleigh Bullets.
I believe the figure for a box of 50 8mm bullets is about AUD$34.50.
If the Americans had to pay anything near the mount we do for our shooting gear they'd spend a lot less on guns.:rolleyes:
Hell, a H&R/NEF rifle is AUD$450 to AUD$500! :eek: :(

Kombi - what are you guys paying for Woodleigh .375/350gr soft points?
 
I know where the factory is but never used the bullets, from what I hear they are good. Rhino made a scope not to long ago I used a friend for some tme and it was decent dont know if they still make them
 
Oh and with the prices that are high Kobus doesn't have a large factory and the bullets are not mass produced he cant sell them for the same margin of profit, that say hornady sells them for.
But you do tend to get better quality from the smaller guys

I think the price is about AUD$50 or a little more for a box of 50.
You should see the price they charge for Barnes or for Nosler Partitions and Accubonds!
 
See, now you understand why I will use Woodleighs for serious big game.
So far I haven't needed bonded core stuff but when I do some deer hunting here I will and Woodleighs are my first choice.
Anything that's a preferred brand for African hunting has GOT to be good!
