Picked up a Rock Island "10/22" yesterday. I know they're built in the Philipian jungles and they don't have the proper size screw drivers to put things together, but I wanted to buy a 10/22 and dress it all up tacticool. I open the box, pull the charging handle back and that's where it stayed! Googled around and I filed that pointy protrusion out of the bolt lock inside the trigger housing, and still the same sh!t. Anyone got some tips for me?

Sell it!
Being honest, youll find that it just doesnt shoot as good as other 22s. The said thing is there is no aftermarket barrels. Plus if you get a good bolt from dlask, you still have a rifle that may function but doesnt group.
I know it isnt the answer your looking for but atleast Im trying politely to tell you what everyone is thinking.
Sure call me a troll like everyone else. Atleast Im a straight shooter.

In my google search some guys with Rugers had a similar issue and a guy suggested filing the part I just did. No one posted after that so I don't know the results. With a name like mine do you think I'm worried about how well it groups?

Sadly that what I think of all the people who went with a RIA.
Sure its a clone but not in a good way.
If you were trying to cheap out, should have got a marlin or mossy
Anyway hope the bolt or rod swap helps!

Fixed! Looks like the little spring that's supposed to engage the bolt lock was never installed correctly. After my first experience I wouldn't recommend RIA. The price should be a lot lower for the quality you're getting, and the guts look like they used a 500 pack siting it in at the factory/shed hahaha.

So far, mine is still soldiering on. Haven't cleaned it, use anything and everything in it. As the pic shows, I did take the WW2 Russian tank primer paint off with circa 1850 and BLO'd it several times.

I did this as a lark, and to see how long it will go without cleaning. I have fired maybe about 4-600 rounds so far. It has sent a pile of gophers off to the next world.

And, yes, I have several 10/22's and CZ's, along with about 18 Savage/Stevens/Springfield "gillers', plus a Marlin or two, couple of older Mossbergs, and a new Savage or two, so I do have some accurate shooters. :p

I'm sanding down the stock as we speak. Told the kids they can paint whatever they want on it. Should be interesting. Yours looks pretty good, maybe after sanding I'll just give er a clear coat

I have one, was my first purchase. I don't regret it a bit! I have mine in a Hogue stock, PC extractor, charging handle and spring, target hammer and extended mag release. Haven't cleaned it since I got it, about 3000 rounds ago, just a drop of oil on the bolt once or twice a year. Only issue I had is with Butler Creek magazines but I think it's more the mag! The 10rnd BC that came with it was so out of spec that it was getting peened by the bolt as it came forwards. But it runs like a dream with Ruger magazines. Hit spray cans at 75 yards all day. Sure it could be a few bucks cheaper but don't we say that about everything? Hah. It's an honest gun, enjoy it.

After firing off a drum mag I had 3 failure to feeds. I'm actually a happy camper!

That looks good! My front sight came loose, so I took it off and put it away. Probably should have a bit of Loc-tite.
