Hey, considering a used RIA (Rock Island Armory) 1911 in 9mm.

Any feedback on their quality ? Are they like Norinco (which are rough) but not bad guns.
How's the RIA overall quality, fit and function, accuracy ? ?
The one I'm looking at has some trigger work and quality parts put into it. But end of day, is it reputable enough to sell for fair price again
down the road, if so choose too ?

Made in the Philippines by Armscor, much better then Norinco. I would not put any value on the trigger work or new parts unless installed by a gunsmith, and a good gunsmith at that.
They are a little more then SAM pistols that Wolverine has in stock, and they are good pistols, also made in the Philippines. Use those prices as a guide....ie NEW SAM vs USED Armscor.

Definitely better than a NORC. Parts interchangeability is a lot consistent with standard 1911s. Resale value depends on the condition, not the typical round round we all ask. You will be surprised to find a pistol with 1000 rds against it in same condition as a pistol with 5000 rds against it. Check the slide to frame fit. If the play is acceptable to you and priced right, go for it. It is not the best pistol in the market but it is one priced reasonably.

They aren't real common in Canada but on a lot of the American sites they exist in large numbers and appear to be generally well thought of.

Despite what trebor2880 will inevitably say they are definitely a step above Norincos.

Been looking at one myself, all the reviews I've read are good. I am probably going to pick it up. As for comparing to Norinco you get what you pay for.

I talked with a servicing dealer in Virginia while on vacation. RIA pistols are quite good. Apparently, if you can find one in 38 super, it's the shizzle. Quite correct, STI uses the RIA as the basis for their 1911's.

Sounds like it's worth grabbing it, if works well. Luckily someone I know locally mentioned they're willing to sell it. So will test fire it soon and
get a feel for it. It does have some mods to it, inc. some SV parts, trigger job, with 4 mags.
If it feels o.k. and shoots reasonably accurate, I'll grab it.
Thanks for the info.
