I just got back from a trip up to my cottage on Georgian Bay, I am just south of Parry Sound and got 2 Mallards this morning. When I got back to the cottage to clean the ducks, I found that both had the disgusting parasite "ricebreast". Has anyone else encountered this, I see that people have reported cases here and there, but given that both ducks had it scares me.

I have on a couple of occasions in North western Ontario. It is not very common. The local MNR biologist said you could still eat them just cook it well...... I passed on that it is disgusting. It is a good reason to always look under the breast skin before you cook and duck. Sorry that two of your birds were infested.
