Richard's Micro fit stocks

I bought a semi-inlet from Richards last year for a Browning BBR. They told me it would be 12 weeks and I had it in thirteen.

All in all, it was a pretty good semi-inlet and I was more than satisfied for the price.

On the other hand, I bought a Boyds laminate VIP for a Mauser 98 a couple of years ago. It was obese. By the time I had the bottom metal properly inletted, the metal was counter-sunk into the stock nearly 1/2". There was lots of extra wood on the butt and on the grip that had to be removed. Also, the inletting was too much in some areas and not enough in others. I won't be buying from them again.

I have heard the same thing about a lot of Boyd's stocks. That's why I am looking for an alternative.

I got one for a Mauser several years ago. Took about 12 weeks to get, and got hosed on brokerage fees  , but its a good looking stock. Minimal inletting to do, mostly sanding the outside.

(E)

I got a semi-fancy 2nd,with lot's of extra wood on purpose. It's Claro, soft and pretty. The for-end and grip cap rosewood???? didn't match. I will be epoxy coating it and changing the caps.So it works for me.Get them to label it as carving wood and mail it through the post office. The Boyd's second was in stock, and came quickly. The inleting worked fine with coloured epoxy filler. It was plain wood, but it's a much admired rifle.I modified JKS to english staulking patern.

From what I have heard these stocks take a lot of time to get the right fit to the barreled action. If I were you i would try to find a different stock and use this as a last priority ;)
