Looks like the Republicans are seriously screwing us - what do we get for having troops in Afghan fighting? What do we get for supporting their wars?I don't even know what to cry or laugh they won't even export Kel-tech plastic toys?? This is what we get in the face. :jerkit:

We are much worst off than in the Democrat days. I wonder why CSSA is not asking NRA to ask their senators why they are screwing gun owners in other countries, while they are trying to export "American Values" to else where in the wrold. Right, you can drink our coke, eat our Mickey D's and wear our Nike, but 2nd amendment is not something that we care to promote. Not that I expect them to care -but this is getting rather retarded and ridiculous. :jerkit: Many Canadian gunowners are actually conversative right that support the US, what a way to piss off your own supporters. Maybe the Repubicans won't get it unless we told our conversative government to pull all the troops right now.

Maybe Hillary Clinton will actually allow those ugly Kel-tech to come to Canada after banning all the "assault weapons" in the US.

Just wait till the new Dems get in. You ain't seen nothing yet. The only thing that might save us is a North American defence/open border plan.

What ruling ?

They're prominently using the "non-sporting rifle/use" excuse more and more often disallowing exports on certain items and firearms.

Ironically the keltec looks far more like a sporting rifle than alot of items they still export.

WTF ever happened to NAFTA, eh?

NAFTA is a tax/duty treaty, nothing more... NAFTA is alive and well.

If your firearm or firearm parts or firearm accessories are manufactured (or mostly manufactured) in Mexico, the United States or Canada then there is no DUTY charged by US or Canada Customs when you import that item into a NAFTA country. The item comes in under the NAFTA Tarriff treatment and so no DUTY charged by customs.

If the item is made outside North America then DUTY is charged based on the tarriff treatment for that country of manufacture... in many cases it's "02" which is "Most Favoured Nation" and that means 3.5% DUTY on most firearms. Parts and Accessories have their own DUTY rate depending on the specific Tarriff Classification number of the commodity/item being imported.

NAFTA is not a guarantee that you can import or export something... the FREE in Free Trade only refers to Free of DUTY.

Mark :)

The problem is that the bureaucrats are not being reigned in by the politicians.

The manufacturers do not see a problem with having their access to markets limited because they are still struggling to keep up with domestic demand from both DOD and civilian sectors. This means that the much maligned "gun lobby" has no reason to flex it's muscles and get the politicians to force a reality check on the bureaucrats.

...ridiculous U.S. State Dept. ....

....I think that there are still a few leftover "clinton bureaucrats" in that department that haven't been purged yet.....

Ok , here's the deal. we meet in Lake Erie. I trade you one Kel-tec for one 3.5 gallon American made toilet and a cuban cigar. Both toilets and cigars are illegal here. We Americans need to flush 3 times for our 1.6 gal. POS. to get rid of our POS's.

I can see it now ----being convicted and rotting in prison for smuggling toilets that are made in USA but not allowed to be sold here. Yeah makes sense.

The Repubs are no friend of guns either, especially Bush one that banned foreign made "assault weapons" using the one man show called an Executive Order.

Both major parties don't relate to me at all . I like Ron Paul but he doesn't have a chance. I expect both parties to slowly chip away on the 2nd. amendment. They have and will continue to drive a wedge between the Fudds and "second amendment'ers". I know that Canada has some wierd laws but the USA advantage is getting less and less. I truly fear the direction my country is going.

A particularly ridiculous example is banning the export of the Magpul UBR stock, because it's a "Significant Military Small Arm Part" :-0

How the hell can it be military issue if it's not even in production ?
Good luck finding a military unit with an issued UBR stock ! ... incredible.

Further than that:
- M4-type 6 position ARE the official GI-issued stocks and they ARE exported.
- An AR-15 can be fired without these collapsible stocks (with just the buffer tube on), may it be the M4 type, CTR, UBR, VLTOR, etc... so technically, I would say these are "accessories to improve shooter's comfort", but not an essential "firearm part".

I can't blame the Americans for not caring about shooters in other countries. After all, how many of you would be losing sleep over someone in Guatemala not being able to buy Para Ordnance?

If there was a significant civilian market for AR-15s and other "military style" rifles outside of the U.S., American manufacturers would have been lobbying Congress to lift the export restrictions. But since the export market for such firearms is minuscule, there's no incentive to do anything about it.

I still remember back in the day when something was too dangerous for Americans it was perfectly fine to export... ahh now those where the days!

Further than that:

No, they're not. Collapsible stocks on carbines have been barred from US export since 2005. We haven't imported one since then.

Post-ban US configuration AR rifles are non-exportable.

Our rifles are Canada-only models designed by us and the factory for export, further, the designs have changed three times in the past two years in order to meet approval by the DOS.

American exporters, at least factory ones, were warned last year that attempt to play fast and loose with these guidelines could see the entire platform declared 'non-sporting'. We follow them to a T and ok all designs with the US DOS to avoid being the trigger for such an outcome.

(and that's all I'll say about it, so please don't ask)

Now it seems they've extended prohibitions to other and describe the Kel-Tec stock as collapsable. The SU-16A can't be fired with the rifle collapsed.

Wow. So it appears to be a case of buy it now (at least for ARs or anything remotely military looking), because tomorrow they may not be available.
