I'm getting the bug again so I have been picking up the odd piece here and there. The hard part was deciding on what caliber I wanted to chamber for as I had several in mind (25-06, 257 WBY, 6.5-06, 280 Rem, 280 AI). I have finely settled on the 280 Remington.

I will be shooting 140-160gr Barnes, Nosler Accubonds or Hornady bullets. My question for all you gun addicts is: I know that most factory rifles come with a 9.5 twist but would a faster or slower twist be better.

If it helps I plan on a 24 inch barrel. Probably a #4 contour. Shots could be as far as 600 yards. I will use ether a Remington or Ruger action.

Any suggestions .
Thanks
Burke

I like the 280AI....been something I have been contemplating on or a 330 Dakota has my interests since my last build...Build off a Sako m75 rifle again like my 338-06AI.

I would go 24" #4 barrel and flute it to bring the weight down. A MacMillan Edge stock

If you are buying a barrel, go for the 9" twist.
It will stabilize any bullets you will shoot, and handles the 168-175 grainers better than a slower twist will. Eagleye.
