How hard is it to find a rifle chambered in this round?? I'm hoping to find an older single shot(or new maybe)that I can use to hopefully get my daughters interested in shooting(also hoping that one can be found cheap, maybe I'm just dreaming?). I'm looking at the CB's because they are so quiet that my girls won't be intimidated by the sound and it won't bother my neighbors either if we are plinking in the back yard. I know I can put them through my .22lr bolt action rifle, but I'd rather find a rifle chambered specifically for them if the cost is reasonable.

Thanks for any help folks.

my Marlin 39A specifically mentions .22 s,l and lr but its heavy, my little girl prefers the 10/22. Any of the pink single shots would be perfect

CB longs are the way to go for sure and you can even use them in semi auto's it just turns them into a straight pull bolt as it won't cycle the ammo on it's own.

I happen to have an old Browning "trombone" model that is stamped .22L on the barrel. That is all I shoot in it, the .22cb long. 'Simths have told me standard velocity LR is ok and to avoid the hyper velocity stuff. An old rifle so I treat it like one.

I have a Browning BL-22 I kept for my daughter.
It's a lever that will take all .22 S, L, LR. The short pull is good for youngsters.
Can't say I like the heavy trigger, that needs some work.

They used to make a tube mag pump action as well that would shoot short, long and LR as well if I'm not mistaken

I bought some CB Longs to try in my revolver, very mild but accurate, they should work well in a rifle. CCI CB .22 Long 29 grain round nose 710 FPS.

If you want new and not spend a fortune (marlin or browning levers) I would look at any single shot savage or marlin. If you would like a repeater, marlin makes the 981 I believe it's called which has a tube mag that will feed all 22 rounds.

CB Longs are an excellent round. You might want to look at an air rifle to start them out on. They are cheap to shoot and relatively quiet.

You may be a little hard pressed to find a gun chambered in 22 short only, but why would you want to? You can feed the cb shorts into any bolt action one at a time, even if your gun is marked for .22lr only. Cb long are better though and are the exact same round in a longer case. Same weight and fps without crudding up the chamber like the shorts do. And if the girls take to shooting you just have to change ammo when they are ready!

well,I'll tell you one thing-shooting REGULAR shorts instead of CB SHORTS in my little Husqvarna rolling block resulted in breaking the block......I'd relegate it to a ''parts gun'' if I didn't like it so much....my advice?-if you have one of these fine old guns-better to shoot CB's than regular ammunition, short or long
