I was going to pick up a rifle cleaning station - just wondering if anyone has any suggestions? I was looking at a few different ones at Wholesale Sports the other night, and they all seem to be in the $50 - $75 range, so I was wondering if anyone had any positive reviews about what you're using to clean your long guns. Thanks for the input!

I use the Tipton Best gun vice and find it works excellent for me. A little pricey, but usually Bass Pro or Cabelas put them on sale around Christmas time for under a $100.00

I do quite a bit off work on rifles.I find if the rifle has a front sling stud I will install a bipod. This lets the rifle stand up straight on its own and leaves it handy to move around without taking it in and out of a vice/stand.

A padded wood vice is very useful for holding and cleaning guns. Takes up less room than the Tipton thing and comes in handy for other uses.

Agreed, wife last year bought a Plaino tool box with rifle rest for cleaning. But I found it was more annoying and took so long to try and set up the rests on the tool box. Then this huge box stuck on the bench. I just use the vise. I can hold the guns Vertical / Horizontal. Clean, repair, etc.

I have a whole bunch of pre-made set ups but when I'm hunting or on the road this is one that I like the best, made out of plywood scraps and a few left over pieces of hardware. It folds flat and it doesn't matter if it gets banged around.

I use an MTM cradle thingy. It's got lots of compartments to put parts and keep brushes etc organized. I've had it for years, and it's been very handy

If you need it clamped down it might not work, but I like the MTM Case gard Gunsmith Maintenance Center. I tend to drop things a lot, so having it below to catch screws and such is a big plus, and I usually leave any screwdrivers, rings, allen keys, etc that I commonly use right in it and don't have to often go searching for something.

It works good and was fairly cheap too (around $40).

I have used it to shoot from by resting the forearm in the front and putting your shoulder against the butt. I worked in a pinch but was not well suited for shooting.
