I was at the TO sportsman show and noticed that a rifle had a built in compensator. I was wondering if this helped any and if anyone had it built into one of their rifles.
These are called "muzzle brakes" when on a rifle, and yes, they work quite well for reducing recoil, but make the gun much louder. You can also get the barrel threaded at the muzzle and use a removable brake.
There are also tuning "compensators", usually used on target 22's. Browning sold a similar item called the BOSS system on it's A-bolts and Model 70's a few years back. And yes, they do work. - dan
