(A friend posted these articles in another forum, and I thought it might be of interest to the folks here. The search function wasn't discriminating enough in its search results to see if it was posted before, so if it was, I apologize in advance)
 
A fellow in Calgary built one for himself from scratch, a very nice double. Don't remember if it was exposed hammer or not.
He thought I was just another punk looking at his toy until I asked him if it was indeed a four bore. His mouth dropped open.:p

He even let me hold it up for my wife to take some snapshots of us.:cool:
That thing was 32lbs IIRC and was a challenge to hold on the level.

He figured I could regain my ballance after stumbling backwards for about 15 steps, give or take.:runaway:
I would have tried it, at least once....;)

It would make a good deer gun.:)

There is a 7MM Reminton Magnum, the 4 bore with the 1600 grain bullet loaded , a 1850 grain bullet beside a 22 long rifle
I fired the 4 bore with the 1850 grain bullet and 400 grains of powder, even with the gun weighting 24 pounds it is a handfull to keep in your hands
