rifle for the travelling hunter

How about a Savage 24? I have an older "Campers Companion" model (.22/20)that breaks down into a nice little pouch.....do the new ones with the larger deer calibers do the same? I think it's a good concept if you want the option of a shotgun as well.

Having handled both, I prefer the Baikal IZH-94 with it's double action and double triggers.....very well constructed and nice wood to metal finish. The only thing I would like different is to see the rifle bbl on top :)

See if you can find a Thompson Center TCR 83. They were nice little rifles and fit the bill perfectly. Damn shame the plant burned down and they stopped production.
