You can often get by with the No-Go, but don't assume that the headspacing is good. If you are re-barreling, get a Go and a No-Go. Incidentally, the 270 gauges are suitable for 30-06 as well. I believe they are suitable for most of the spin-off cartridges based on the 30-06 parent cartridge.

The gauges they list for the .270 are actually the 30-06 gauges.

It happens by design, the 30-06 and the .270 Winchester use the same headspace gauge.

On a correctly chambered commercial rifle you should be able to close a stripped bolt on a go gauge, you should not be able to close the bolt on a no-go gauge and a field gauge is not used.

If you have a military rifle you should be able to close the stipped bolt on a go gauge, you may be able to close the bolt on a no-go gauge, but you should not be able to close the bolt on a field gauge.

If you can close the bolt on a gauge that it is not supposed to close on, the headspace is considered excessive and in some cases dangerous.
