Hey guys, looking for a club/range to shoot rifles.. .22 up to .303. Sharon gun club is not an option as I need a share. I am located in the newmarket area and would be willing to travel an hour or so.. Any suggestions Thanks!!

The majority of ranges in and around my area (KW-Toronto corridor...an hour or so for you) either require existing members to vouch for you, are prohibitively expensive, lack a sufficient outdoor range (100 yds+), are not accepting new members...the list goes on.

The silverdale gun club however about midway between Hamilton and Niagara looks excellent on paper - I have yet to pay it a visit myself. I was going to join but now it appears as though I'll be moving so I haven't bothered. It's a little outside your travel zone you specified but beggers can't really be choosers can they? And a begger in Ontario? Cmon :D.

Guests are welcome Sat & Sun - $20 for a day pass

I can't seem to find it on their site, but I'm almost certain that they want new prospective members to visit only Wednesday evenings or Sunday mornings...or something along those lines. Best to shoot them an email and inquire. They do also want you to take a 30-45 minute orientation as a new member held on Saturdays.

I am a new member at Silverdale after 3 day passes. Good atmosphere, folks usually up for a little chit chat while reloading which is nice. It's all outdoor, 5 or 6 ranges up to 200 yards, plus 2 shotgun traps, and an action range for handgun users. Yes there is a safety course to take if you want full access to the range, and that course is included in your membership fee. I haven't had a chance to take it yet but they run Saturday mornings too. The ATT course, for handgun shooters, is an additional $80 and is 4 hours instruction and 4 prove-shoots. It's been explained you buy the ammo from Lanz (on-site gunshop) and they loan you 3 or 4 different caliber pistols. Safely handle them and put the rounds on target, and you're set.

head east to trenton and come join the frankford fish and game club. I am a member there. we shoot skeet/sporting clays, 25, 50, 100 and 200 yard ranges with a 17 yard indoor range. also have stationary archery targets and a 700 yard archery course. $175 a year.
