Anybody done one lately and documented it start to finish post up.

Here's a recent clean up job of a 760 Gamemaster Carbine in .308. Picked it up locally and it needed some TLC. Wood stocks were a bit tired, blueing was worn, bleached and there was some light pitting on the barrel. Bore and internals were excellent so here goes. Took it to the local shop for a safety check up and to have it freshened up with KG products.

-Stripped wood furiture and ordered Ramline black synthetic stock set.
-Gun disassembled.
-Gun sandblasted and degreased
-KPhos treatment
-Preheated and 4 coats of grey milspec OD GunKote applied
-Baked to perfection
-New stock set installed and reassembly
-New base, rings, black cordura sling with QD's & a 3X9X40 Simmons Camo Scope mounted and bore sighted
-New mag purchased as well

Here's the gun as I received it.

Not rifles, at least not lately, I did a couple of shotguns from start to finish that Striker refinished the metal on for me after I did the stocks and disassembly (Dlask 870 and Outlaw).
Word on triggerguards, they look better green ;)

The mag bodies do as well, by far.

I cant believe you tossed that buttstock though, what nice wood.

Nice job...
I like the drop in that Ramline butt stock...Perfect for a long neck like me..
What is KPhos. treatment?

Hi Guys,

The KPhos is the metal pre treatment before the GunKote is applied. It is a base corosion sealer and gives a good base foe the GunKoteto adhere to. Not imperative a but a good prep.

Where did you buy the gunkote?
I have an old .243 that needs some loving and I think this is just what it needs.
I looked online to try and find it but no luck

I thought it looked good at the start, but now it looks pretty kick a$$!

Great Job!

All you need now is and eagle 10 shot clip!

I guess the durability will be something that I evaluate over time. So far the only wear has been racking the pump. Probably worked the slide 100 times since getting it back together and there's not a mark on it.

Yes, mine is marked "CARBINE" (see the 14th picture just below the scope objective) and I still have the original stock set so if need be I could sandblast again, reblue and bring her back to the traditional look. I'm more for functionality than originality.

Hey I think I reconize the handsome fellow in the white suit ;)

I've refreshed a few guns but I always forget to take pictures along the way:mad: I've got a few on the agenda to start soon maybe I'll try to snap some photos.

Here's my thoughts (they're worth what you paid for them lol) on the 760. Not crazy about the scope, but the rifle looks great. Nothing Bubba about it considering it could be easily returned to original. Personally I like the black trigger guard/mag/dust cover. With the black stock it gives the gun a 2 tone look and I think having other black accents looks neat. I'm curious to see how the finish lasts. Nice rifle:)
