IMO the rifled chokes are ok if you like a piece of tumbling lead coming out your barrel.
But for accuracy and distance spend the extra $$ and get a rifled barrel.
well worth the $$.
You can buy a combo deal for like $500 to $600
I have a 20" barrel for my 870 that I use a rifled choke. Accuracy is great using winchester 23/4" slugs. I us the same barrel for turkey just screw in a turkey choke. Both chokes are extended chokes from remington.
if you need to shoot sabots you are better off spending $150 and picking up an H&R ultra slug hunter or its NEF counterpart as a dedicated sabot slug gun. its the same price as an extra barrel for your 870, and you can mount a scope solidly directly on the barrel and have a much better mounting solution than your typical saddle mount on an 870 or 500. it will be much more accurate, and you can leave the scope on it permanently.
