Rifles heavier than advertised. Very common.

Just experienced this with the CZ 557 Range. Advertised at 3.3 kg, 7.25 lbs, actual weight was 8.25 lbs. Some digging with CZ shows all their 557 rifles advertised with a weight FROM 3.3 kg. Clever marketing and purposefully deceiving?

Well of course it weighs less without the stock :p

I meant new out of the box it would have weighed less than 8lbs complete.
It wasnt anywhere near free floating barrel either. But i put it in an mdt chassis. I dont worry to much about rifle weight. My 2506 is close to 12lbs and my 458wm is over 10lbs. I dont hunt in the mountains though but have no issue walking 10 or 12 miles carrying a heavier rifle

Well, I just received the scope for this rifle. I picked up a NIB (used) VX-2 3-9x40. I mounted it with Talley lightweights. All together it weighs 7lb 0.8oz on my scale. Although I was hoping for a few ounces lighter, it is still pretty light for a factory rig. I only have 2 other lighter rifles, and they both wear Leupold ultralight scopes, which really is all that is accounting for the weight difference. One is the Howa Alpine in 7-08 and the other is a Husky 1600 lightweight in 30-06. The Husky has a super sharp recoil with the plastic butt plate. The Howa is quite pleasant to shoot.

Anyways, I may have a range report in the near future. The rifle I sold had an average group size for it's favorite load at 0.68". Hopefully I don't kick myself for selling it to buy this Tikka!

Every once in awhile, the manufacturers throw you a bone.

Remington claims on their website and their published data that the XCR 2 in a long action non Magnum is 7 3/8 lbs (7.375 lbs) yet my scale reads 6.56 lbs. and with a 24" barrel.

Anybody find any rifles lighter than claimed?
