Rifling

I'm sure there must be gunsmiths/machinists with the tooling to do it - but it will no longer be the same calibre - it would wind up being something .010" - .020" larger. Are you not able to find a rifled replacement barrel ?

Okay what do you have ? I was thinking you had a cheaper smooth bore. As stated above bore size would definitely increase, possibly to an odd size dictating a custom mould. Sending a barrel to the states would be a pain. Problem I see is finding someone that does muzzleloaders, different rifling than a regular cartridge rifle. Can you get a rifled barrel to fit your action?

Dale Friesen in Piapot, SK has a basic rifling machine and can do it pretty reasonably. Personally I would get a rifled barrel for it. You can swap the barrels, one for round ball one as a shot gun. A few guys here do that with their TC new englander.

Dale is not on the internet, you would have to call him old school on the phone and hope he is in the house when you call.

Thanks for the input guys. It is an 1803 Baker copy so not too common. To buy a barrel I think I would have to order custom profile which wouldn't be cheap either. I will try and find Dale Friesen number thank you.
