looking for info on Rimfire Benchrest matches with a 10/22 set up. if you are use them I'm interested in what type of set up you have to get the best out of your rifle.
My goal is to build one over the winter and want some ideas. I understand that this might fall under open class which I'm ok with. I'm not planning to win matches but I just want to be competitive.

Acknowledged, the 10/22 can be a very accurate and precise rifle with the right parts and work. It also depends on the level of competition that you are planning on where you wish to be competitive.
To be competitive or just to compete are different things and to be competitive one has to look at the events to be entered. Typically bolt action rifles are the rule.

22forever built a 10-22 for target - BR. Last I heard he was into it for over $2000.

There are two 22 BR opportunities in the Lower Fraser Valley but "OTS" . . . Out There Somewhere is not indicative.

I'm looking to be semi-competitive. I have a cz452 for stock class, work held me back this year from competing which sucked I'm been working every weekend.

I have build a few 10/22 HB rifles over the last 20 years most for varmint shooting, where I plan to shoot the 10/22 is an open class. So this can get out of hand dollar wise.

I'm just looking for ideas on what guys are building for Benchrest 10/22 this will give me an idea on what needs to be done to be competitive. having fun is important as well.

I built a KIDD benchrest rifle , only the receiver is Ruger 1022 . It cost a little over $1000
to build . It was fun to build but my CZ 452 Varmint that I shoot in Sporter Class is more
accurate , and the only mod it has is a Yo Dave trigger spring . It cost about $500 .

Dlask receiver

I don't know if anyone has heard of this but I saw a show a couple of years ago which included a segment on accurizing the 10/22 and there was a fellow in PA who I believe shortened the chamber by milling the rear of the barrel. He showed before and after results at 50yds and they were very impressive. The thing is that is all he did, no special barrel and no VQ parts. I don't know if it's all BS or if there is a smith around that would try it, might be worth a try. TC

quite possible if done right. the stock chamber is a sporter chamber, capable if firing stingers and other longer cartridges. And, probably even a tad long for those. This means that match length ammo is really loose and sloppy in a stock chamber. Shorten the chamber, and it should tighten things up.

I am not a gunsmith, but this does sound legit.

I would agree with this as well. makes sense to me. having less bullet jump & touching the lands.

I guess I might have to ask this other question over at Rimfire central.

my question would be how well do rimfire barrel liners do for match shooting. as I'm building a lightweight .920 rifle
