Hello this is kind of a scope question but will be on a rimfire rifle so move if nessessay to the optics section.

So my question is I have a target rifle that I will be using for outdoor 100 yard f class training as well as a winter indoor 20 yard mini f class competition shooting. So I have been doing some research and looking at options which appear to come down to a few popular options the weaver T36 around $800 the leupold series of fixed power BR fixed power scopes around 25x- 36x area and a few others so my question is what is everyone using I have read that the weaver has issues and is very dark but that is subjective and I have heard mixed reviews on the leupold.

Keeping in mind that the rifle will be used in prone shooting off of a bipod and at 20yards as well as 100 outdoors.

Thanks

I'm using a Hawke Vantage 6-24x44 on mine. I shoot anywhere from 25 yards to 150 on occasion. Usually shoot at 50 or 100. For the price and features, its hard to beat.

The Weaver T36 is a very good scope for its price. There are very few serious complaints over on RFC, where a lot of bench shooters report using it as an affordable alternative to more expensive scopes. The Sightron SII 36X is also a good scope, with many users of both it and the T36 comparing them favourably against each other. I have both scopes and like them both. A nod in favour of the Sightron is that warranty coverage in Canada is explicitly available, while the same is not true for Weaver.

Leupold fixed power scopes in the range cited are currently available on the used market as with the very good Bausch and Lomb 36X scopes.

I use a weaver 36x for my 50yd benchrest 40x .22. Sightron makes a 36 and a new s3 45x which i would like to try. There is also leupold. Ive also debated trying my sightron s3 10-50. Keep in mind though that with a fixed power when the mirage comes in there nithing you can do and it can be harder to initially find your target due to the smaller field of view.

There are two places that I'm aware of that you can order a new Weaver T36. One is Mystic Precision, which doesn't seem enthusiastic to bring them in, perhaps because of the lack of warranty service available. The other is Amazon, which brings them in usually from American suppliers but sometimes from other places. You should note that Amazon pricing on these scopes can change from day-to-day. On average, from what I've observed, a new Weaver T36 is usually not less expensive than a Sightron SII 36X.

I have used several scopes in the past but at the moment use exclusively Weaver T36 on my rimfire BR rifles. Fantastic scope for the price. Lots of serious BR shooters have been using this scope for years. For rimfire BR it is all you need in my opinion. As Glenn already mentioned they come up from time to time on Amazon.ca for around 800$. Easy to order.
The Weaver T36 comes with a sunshade, target turrets that you can install easily if you want and screw on metal protective caps which I much prefer compared to rubber caps.
