Hey guys~just curious about what your rimfire goals might be for 2017? New gun(s)? New optics? Gun upgrades like triggers/stocks....or will it be another year of fighting-off temptation? :) 2016 saw ALLOT of trigger time for me with the rimfires, specifically, prepping for (and taking) a trip to SW Alberta to shoot gophers for a week. Nothing like a week of shooting those with a CZ 452 Varmint and an open-sighted BRNO 2E to really get to know your gun! :) What a fantastic time. Other than that, I found a nice BRNO 2E of my own..upgraded the trigger on my Marlin 917M2, found a decent scope for that rifle (Weaver V-16). No complaints. The biggest accomplishment yet was probably NOT buying an Anschutz. lol I hope to be as strong in 2017, but Nordic's "Tactical Trainer" post could result in some marital issues this coming year. :)

Other than getting out to AB again, there is maybe 1 rimfire rifle I'm after for sure~a pump action 22. If Santa leaves me a little $ under the tree, maybe that will happen sooner than later. Fingers crossed!

I did finally "pull the trigger" on a scope I've always wanted for my .223, and that's en route from Alberta as I sit here typing this. It will be bad news for the groundhogs in 2017, but nice to see under the tree for yours truly! :)

Anyhow, it's a fun topic to think about as Dec.25 gets closer. I hope you all have a great Christmas, and a safe, happy, prosperous 2017!

My goal for 2017 is to get my new Cogswell & Harrison Certus in 17HMR scoped and sighted in!! Hopefully roll over a few gophers in the process :)

@kinthelt. Are there any rimfire matches or challenges here in Manitoba?? I live an hour south of Winnipeg and there is nothing that I know of. It sucks. I'd really enjoy doing some challenges and target shoots for fun with other peeps who enjoy shooting sports

NS522 - Make a lighter trigger spring, finally ad some sear engagement / over travel adjustment screws. Get everything squared away so I can finally shoot the boxes of Eley match I've been hoarding away...
JW-14 - Scope it and attach some sort of bipod for a fun gun.
Squires Bingham 22mag - Make the damn thing more accurate, sight in the Federal 50gr ammo for close range snow nap delivery.

I'll be customizing, repairing, tweaking and tuning my current stable so that they're all 1/2" challenge @ 50 capable. I bought 4 .22's this year and only one of them made the grade :( Started shooting Silhouette late this year so I also hope to earn some more 5-in-a-row pins and hopefully some 10's :) A really nice scope is on my wish list as I don't have enough optics to go around all my rifles but I make do as it is easy to swap scopes around as they are all 11mm dovetail mounts.

Definitely plan on putting in some time hunting gophers with my SR22 and the 10/22. Really hoping to upgrade the hand guard on the SR22 to a full length quad rail and maybe give the whole thing a cool cerakote or hydrodip job.

Going to look at getting back into a 22 mag again. I should have never sold the last one.
But it is what it is.
Other than that will be cleaning up the Cooey 60 that I just acquired.

The Kenora gun club has a couple of rimfire matches each year.

I'll be trying to polish off the 50m challenge, it always seems to be that last group...

Maybe another one for the stable too.

I'd like to get comfortable with my scoped 10/22 compact and find some Tech Sights for my brand new Ruger American Rimfire! If anyone has leads, I'd greatly appreciate it! That 50m challenge is calling my name...

I have a lot of goals right now, but I know that only a few of them will be achieved as they are often changing. One is to give shooting at 100 yards with a .22LR a very serious try. Here wind conditions play a critical part as does having top notch, consistent ammo. Another, perhaps a little more affordable goal, is to shoot for the smallest average group size at 50 yards -- the distance at which .22LR is best suited in terms of results and reasonable ammo cost. I think I want to get another scope as well, maybe a Sightron SIII 8-32 or a SIII 10-50.

There's a club that has an indoor 25 yard range that's about 40 minutes away. I'm giving thought to joining it in order to have a place to shoot rimfire handgun during the winter months. I've had a few .22LR pistols but never really made much use of them. I'm also planning to retire in 2017 so I would have a great deal more time to shoot handgun, especially indoors during the winter when rifle shooting is less practical.

Steinbach do a fun rimfire shoot each summer. Selkirk does a rimfire steel silhouette 3 times a summer. 25 50 75 100 yds chickens pigs turkeys and rams lots of fun.

One goal I have is to get another of my cz 455 's up to the 50 yd challenge with an American barrel and also one with 16" threaded barrel as well, will see how it goes. Lots of time to start those.Already have the barrels and a few receivers to switch around. They should up to it around with some serious measuring and tweaking.Time will tell. Could even throw in a Boyds pro varmint stock into the mix!!!
Mike doesn't Winkler range want to do a fun shoot or don't you belong? It shouldn't be a problem setting that up.
