Hi All,

I am looking for a rim-fire double action revolver preferably in .22 mag, but would also do .22LR. I'd also like a barrel length less than 6" I am not 12(6) so would have to be longer than 4". I see that Taurus and Charter Arms each make one. Does anyone have any experience with either? I like the SP101 but it is significantly more money and seems to be a little tougher to find.

sorry , i got a smith & wessson model 17, K22 masterpiece .
its very old and has a 6 " barrel,
you can get a new, one but there very expensive, in my opinion.
i too would like a 4.2 " barrel 22 mag .
you say taurus and charter arms both make one.
Hmmmmm........... im going to check it out right now . also looking for youtube reviews.

There is the Ruger single six, comes with 2 cylinders 22WMR and 22LR

I have a H&R Model 650 that I really like and it has the 2 cylinders as well .It can be fired Double Action or Single Action

The Single-six (I also have the Single-ten) is a SA only; not DA.

Bought a Taurus locally for my son. Hammer broke. No warranty in Canada. He finally found a hammer in the US.

Get hold of P&D. site sponsor, and find out when the next batch of Ruger 4.2" revolvers will be in. I have one and it is an outstanding little revolver. Even for me it is a tack driver, like most .22 offerings. If you can find one, buy it you won't be sorry.

The single-six comes with an extra 22 Mag cylinder.
My Single-6 is a 6.5" barrel and the Single-10 is 5.5"
My 6 is blued and grips are synthetic.
My 10 is stainless and the grips are wooden.
And, just now, typing this, gave me an idea.
I will try to put the black synthetic grips on the stainless and see how it looks
and the wood on the blued (for a more classic Western look).

I did change the sights on my single-6 to Williams Sights.
 
Have a charter in 22lr. Seems good enough so far. About 500 rounds thru it now without any problems. Trigger is rough but slowly smothing out. Major weight differnce from my 617 smith. Can keep it on a popcan everytime out to 20yrds. Definately not a target revolver but a cheap enjoyable plinker for an afternoon session. Would be an enjoyable little thing to carry in the bush if only we were allowed that freedom
 
I have the Ruger S/A Convertable and it is good. The gun is not expensive as well. From my research the 22WMR round is basically a rifle round. The gun powder used is for a long bbl. In a short bbl there is a lot of wasted energy, slow burning powder. The .22 Mag is a little expensive as well compared to the .22LR or even a 9mm Luger on sale. The little Ruger Convertable is nice and accurate and fun to shoot but slow to load due to S/A design.
 
I bought a ruger sp101 1 year ago, and Im still waiting for ........damn!

Seem to be a nice .22lr revolver, 4.2inch, double-action, fiber optic sights, very nice looking
but pricely and f**king ard to find.....but anyway I STILL WANT IT!!! :ang
 
Tried a couple of Tauruses but didn't like them. They don't compare at all with S & W for balance or accuracy.

If you want to shoot well, buy a good revolver.
