This might seem like a silly question, but I was wondering if it makes any difference when selecting a scope for a 22WMR, if I mount a regular rifle scope or should I stick to a rimfire specific scope? I want to put a Leupold on it in the 2-8 or 3-9 range. I realise a high powered rifle would destroy a rimfire scope but wasn't sure if it made sense to go the opposite way. In Leupold's case there's not a big difference in price (vari x 1) especially used in the EE. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

IT all has to do with parallax. Most centerfire scopes are set at 100-150 yds parallax free.Rimfire scopes are set at 50 yds i believe.A shotgun scope suits a rimfire well because most of those are set at 50 yds as well.
Thanks Nomad, I did notice difference in some specs. I'll make sure any scope I'm interested in has the shorter setting. I appreciate your help.

I'd go with a 3-9 EFR AO, or for a little less money a 2-7 Rimfire. You can also take a Leupold centerfire scope and have Korth adjust the parallax down to rimfire distances.

Every scope Leupold makes is rated for centerfires and air-rifles.

Thanks for the info. I have seen A/O scopes before but didn't know you could adjust a regular scope. You learn something new here everyday!
