Has anyone ordered from rimfire sports latley? Im just wondering if you can order over $100 worth of gun parts at a time? I know you can't with some other companies in the US.
Ordered and received a couple of Bell & Carlson stocks with no problems.
Both orders exceeded the $100.00 limit. I did question this myself but they said they had now problems sending stocks to Canada.
I am not sure on hard parts as I have always kept the cost under the hundred dollar mark.
I have ordered many, many times from various U.S. suppliers, and apparently the $100 USD limit applies to the wholesale value of the items ordered and not the retail price; Rimfire Sports and Customs knows this and if you look at the customs declaration on the packing slip when your order arrives, it will reflect a "declared-value" much lower than what you paid for it... Of course, you will likely have to pay shipping on an oversize item like a stock--I did, so make sure you check with them before-hand or you may be in for a big shock when you find out your "free shipping to Canada" is not so free... Remember, this is a U.S. imposed export restriction only and there may still be duty and brokerage payable on our side if the item is not of U.S. (MFN) origin... YMMV
You replied before I added the duty & fees addendum to my post, but if the items or most of them are made in the US, which if they are Volquartsen item, then you are golden and will likely only pay the $5.00 Canada Post brokerage/handling fees. Canada Post is hit and miss on if/when they ding you with fees and duty: sometimes you pay (usually not on orders < $50), and sometimes you don't. One time I missed my delivery and went to pick the parcel up at the designated postal outlet (corner-store/restaurant), and the drop-off card stated clearly that there was "x"-dollars in duty and fees due and payable, and when I picked the parcel up, the clerk collected the card and gave me the package--no duty or fees, although there was a customs slip conspicously attached demanding payment. Not my responsibility to point this out...
