Tongue in cheek question, but I'm having one of those weeks where buying a rifle might just be what's required to salvage it. :) As it is a whim, I'm thinking something entirely impractical, and that I won't be able to shoot that often...like a .22 WMR.

Ever buy a rimfire to cheer yourself up? Did it work? lol

ya, it's a new addiction to me, especially soothing when you realize just how much fun and how cheap it is to shoot compared to, oh i dunno, 357 Magnum.

However ..........

............. if you live somewhere East (say Ontario) and you send your toy to a gunsmith in, say, BC, to install and zero in a fully adjustable sight and that gunsmith Canada-Post-Expedite-Parcels it and you "see" it sitting in Edmonton for more than three days (are they waiting for the monthly stage-coach?) after three previous days getting from Prince George to Edmonton (could have been carried by bicycle?), it is NOT nerve-relaxing at all.

Hey that's nothing. I sent a money order for a gun:cheers: to a great fellow off this forum who is about 2 1/2 to 3 hours from me. It only took 34 days to get there!

I buy online or of the EE...That way I get days of excitment and anticipation checking the tracking numbers on the Canada post web page...and then the day my stuff arrivies it is the climax of a week long journey.

someone needs a good range to zero his own scope at! :p

i'm going to LeBaron today after work to pick up some rifle mags, and MAYBE a scope. it's fun to shop and get stuff, but sucks having to pay for it eventually. at least the LeB 10% discount card takes some bite out of it.

i'm not patient enough. i end up going to buy stuff at a store while other stuff i bought online is in transit. and then i end up amassing stuff that much quicker.

Well, It's hard to justify the cost of WMR... however, I'm still thinking about that Keltec PMR30 Pistol in WMR.
Looks like a lot of fun, just would prefer if it came in LR... I'm sure you know what I mean .22LRGUY :)
Whatever you do, you cannot go wrong with a new firearm purchase when down in the dumps!

I get all mushy when waiting for the "PARCEL" to arrive.
Kinda like a kid waiting for Santa to come down the chimney.
Or the hound waiting looking out the window waiting for master..............

Sounds like this might be an issue others share...maybe it's the time of the year? :) .22 WMR~not a caliber I own, and I have my eye on a single shot...so ammo cost wouldn't (shouldn't) be that big a deal. I also can't shoot .22 WMR or .17 HMR where I usually shoot my .22s, just too much racket. I would likely get the chance to shoot it every couple of months, which might be often enough. I remain undecided.

Funny Kel-Tec was mentioned~I'm wondering if the SU-22 rifles will ever make it here. Doesn't seem to be any collective desire among the rimfire crowd, or at least, that's the impression I get. It'll likely be 2.5x-3x the cost of a Marling 795...another rimfire "I'm feeling the call" to get.

Decisions... :)

Might as well go buy a 9mm instead...;)....ammo-price wise, I mean ! :D

But buying a .22 LR on a whim is something I'm very guilty of !

And it often does feel great.....:yingyang:...provided you find something at the right price, of course (hey, even whims can be budgeted for ! ).....

Forgot to clarify my "toy".
GSG 1911 (.22cal LR) that comes with three heights of front sights and a fixed rear-sight.
Neither of the fixed three fronts pleased me (and no mechanical windage).
I'm not enough of a gunsmith (or tinkerer) to buy, online, a similar rear-sight and adjust it to fit, not when most sites say, "needs filing or needs milling......."
So, since I was paying to have it installed I asked for it to be zeroed in at 20yds (the distance at my indoors range. You probably know which one I mean.)

I hope you have fun (while I sit here, displaying and redisplaying CanadaPost's tracking and seeing my gun still in Edmonton.)

........

But, in the case of Santa, you KNOW that he'll be there between the moment you finally fall asleep and when you wake up at the crack of dawn.

With Canada Post, you wonder if the reindeer ALL have red noses........ and are
probably somewhere over Zambia, heading for New Zealand.

Rimfire therapy works great, my wife had me pissed off last fall so i went to the Swift Current gun show and came home with a CZ452 varmint. Really made my day:D. Got a good deal from Darren at Prairie Gun Traders.

Yaaaah, eye really like it too when my wife p$sses me off.
I tend to get that mushy feeling all over again.
Specially when there is no crack at dawn or any other time.
