I am looking to mount rings and bases and am trying to go as light as possible as it for Finnlight. What is everyone using and what options are available. I do not now how much the Opti-Locks weight compared to what elso is out there. The weight are not listed on Sako's web-site

I'm using OptiLocks on my 300WM (Sako 75) but since that rifle pushes 11lbs loaded I hardly worried about the weight of the rings/bases. ;) I've also used Millett and Control setups but I prefer the OptiLock system over both regardless of weight.

Hopefully someone can help you with the weight issue. I'd see if Talley offers anything lightweight for a Sako.

tabs4u,
I have used original old style Sako, Optiloc, Redfield, Conetrol, and Warne mounts on Sako rifles. I like the Optiloc, but they a quite pricy (~$180, rings+bases). On my last Sako I used Warne permanent mounts. They are rock solid and cost me about$50. You can also get them in a Quick Detachable version. Check out US websites on where to find them. I am not sure about weights of these mounts, but just looking at them I think that the ones made by Leupold for Sakos would be light weight, they don't have much meat on them.

While I do like the Optilocks, they are quite heavy and probably not what you want if you're trying to save weight. I hear that Talley makes some nice, lightweight rings / bases.

No talley's for Sako as the Sako's aren't drilled and tapped. I like the optiloks, they weigh about 6 oz though. Leupold are OK, Millet are sh1t.

I was really looking for the Talley Lightweights but looks like I will have to go in another direction. Does anyone know if Weaver makes a steel Grand Slam base for the Sako ? I am thibking that and Burris Signiture Z-rings would be pretty light ?

I have Talleys on my Sako...not the lightweights though. But I believe they are lighter than the optilocks (which I also have on another Sako). I have had no problems with either, but given a choice would take the Talleys. :)

well, since the Sako isnt drilled and tapped, then no

Hi Tod,

You are right, I just went and checked my Finnlight and its not drilled and tapped ? I guess I will just settle on the Optilocks. I find it really strange that its not my Tikka 595 in .308 is drilled and taps as well as grooved for the opti-locks.

I wouldn't say you are "settling" for optilocks, they're a great setup and as solid as they come. other than the price, you won't be disappointed.;)
