Hi guys, a 50mm objective scope is on its way to me and I want to put it on my newest (not yet assembled) M700 based LR rig. I'm going to go Badger on the rings, unless you guys have other suggestions (I should check out PGW, like to support the home team). Now what height rings should/do I have to go to to clear the heavy barrel (#8 contour) on the objective? Tall?

I have a Leupold 4.5-14x50mm LR/T mounted on my Rem700 VLS with Leupold medium rings (their lowest ones) on a rail of some sort (sorry don't know who made it). It just clears the barrel with enough room for butler creek caps and a bit more.

Angus I don't know if this will help you but I have farrel bases on my rifles and with their standard height rings a have about 1/4" of clearance with a 50mm objective. I will be putting on a Nightforce with a 56mm as soon as my brother comes up from the states for Christmas.

Yikes, 56mm  I imagine that'll be sweet, rather envious. I am going to a 6.5-20X50mm Mk4 and that seemed huge... Thanks for the info, good to know that's a safe route :)

I have Leupold Mark 4 Med. Rings with a near 20 MOA base and it sits fairly low on the barrel. The scope is a Mark 4 8.5-24 50 mm objective if that helps.
