Howdy just got a interarms mark x in 7x57 with double set triggers and mannlicher stock. The store I bought it from was supposed to get me leuopold qdrs but was told they do not make them so was given a piss poor set of weavers that do not fit. Who sells a good set of rings and bases for a interarms markx cheers

Like heck they don't make them, your store is wrong. Had a set of QR's on my Parker Hale which is the same action. Unless we are talking two different sets of mounts here..... QR and QRW are two very different beasts.
qdrs I have never heard of.

Burris makes a nice steel mount as well.

Best to just sell it to me not worth the trouble :D nice buy I think it might be the one I was eyeing up

Go with the Weaver system bases and rings they are Lighter, stronger, they are less expensive but hold scopes like grim death, scopes never slip in Weaver rings. I gave up on over priced heavy Leapolds years ago and have never looked back.

Plus they are matte and fugly.:puke:

By the sounds of this rifle it needs a set of vintage Buehlers or Conetrols.

If I remember correctly my Interarms had a bit of a problem with the 98/Parker Hale sized bases. One end of the receiver was a bit higher than normal and caused the rings to be out of alignment. I had to do a lot of lapping to get it to work. Could have been just my particular gun though.

I have scopes in both Weaver, an Leupold rings, and I must say that I prefer the Leupold rings by far. Yes, the Weaver rings do hold scopes like grim death, that's because when they are tightened down, they actually pinch the tube slightly. The fact is that both have their positives and negatives. You also must remember that Leupold makes many different types of rings and bases.
I own a mark X Mauser, and presently I have a set of weaver bases on it (they will probably stay). I e-mailed Leulold a while back as I was thinking about getting a set of QR mounts for it. The Mauser FN bases are the ones that fit if you want to go leupold.

True, they are not the most beautiful mounting system available but they are strong and light. I have also found with the weavers I can pull the scope and rings of a gun to use the iron sites then remount the scope even finger tight and still be sighted at same point of impact. I have tested this many times and has proven to be very repetable out to 150 yards, very handy for bush guns like my guide gun or BLR .358.

The best part about the ugly Weavers is that they are truly a return-to-zero mount system. You can take the scope off and put it back on as often as you like, and the rifle will still be sighted in.

Most guys don't believe it, but I have proven it many times at the range, by removing the scope and putting it back on between shots, when shooting a group.

Back to the original question, the FN Mauser mounts are correct for the Mark X.

If it were me I would get some of the steel Weaver bases and then top them with the Burris rings that fit said base. The current supply of Leupold QDs won't compliment the gun in a matte finish. You do realize its all about snob appeal now with DSTs and full stocks.....not any mount will do.
Maybe Recknagles.

By the way, nothing wrong with Weaver.
X2! ......... Other than a couple sets of Talley LWs, Weavers are my first choice for the rest of the guns I use from 375Mag down to .223.

There's a reason why so many companies out there are offering Weaver style rings and bases. They are dependable, lightweight, cost effective and offer an endless choice of rings to fit. Some knock-off bases out there are all steel, which gives shooter an even better selection. You can spend more, but it's a pretty hard system to beat.

The steel Weavers are S-45 and S-46. Just try to find them in Canada. The common ones are 45 and 46. Yes, you do have to shim sometimes, not all factories made the Mauser dead on. My two Zastavas are pretty good. With the butterknife bolt handle ,you may need medium Weavers.

base dilema

So I have my rifle a number 46 and 45 weaver respectively on the rifle for leupold quick release rings. Alas here in lies the new problem my older Zeiss scope is not long enough for the rings. What Rigid base could I try, it would have to be Weaver unless Leupold makes one that will accept the quick release rings?:(

now thats a heck of a good idea, where does someone find somthing like that?

cheers
