I have a Weatherby Vanguard Sub-MOA in .308 and I am mounting a Bushnell Elite Tactical 3-12x44 scope (30mm tube). This rifle will primarily be used for hunting and I may shoot in some amateur competitions. Can someone please recommend rings and bases for this set-up? I would like the scope mounted as low as possible. Thanks.

If you have the scope, what I would do is squish some putty onto the receiver and then bed the scope into it at the right height. Carefully peel off the putty and measure the thickness, allowing for some leeway. Then hit the scope mount manufacturers sites for dimensional information. If weight isn't a concern, Warnes have worked well for me. I am considering Talley lightweights, though - they are much lighter and many here like them a lot.
