Rings for older 1187 WITHOUT cantilever extension?

I picked up a used 1187, and it has the lug on the barrel that I think is intended to be used to mount the older style long cantilever extension...which I don't have, nor do I really want.

The lug seems narrower than a Weaver rail, but I see Remington sells "Cantilever Rings"...are those intended to work with that? Or, is there something else that might facilitate mounting a LER scope?

I've also read that it might be possible to use 700 bases, but I don't see how that would work as I'd assume the bottom profile of 700 bases are round.

Found a new-in-box set...they are proprietary. Remington part #103555 "Shotgun Scope Mount for 870 & 11-87". Fit great.

Just gotta find another LER scope to go with it now

Right on. I like that mounting system. Im not a big fan of the cantilever.
