I'm building up my selection of powders for load development for my Ruger African and have narrowed it down:
- Varget (have it on hand)
- IMR 4831
- RL22 or 23 - I have found some RL22 locally, but RL23 claims to be more temperature stable... can someone weigh in on whether or not I should try and track down some 23 instead of just buying the 22?

Anymore input into powders and success would be very welcome. I'm aiming to fire 120gr copper projectiles to >2900fps.

I use RL26 for 129, 139 and 143 gr bullets in 6.5x55. Getting great results with this powder!

Having said that, the Nosler manual states the most accurate powders they used for 120 grain bullets was W760. IMR 4350 looks great as well.

YMMV

I have used quite a bit of RL 22 in the 6.5x55, but mostly with 139-142 grain bullets.
My favorite with 120-125 grain bullets is a slow lot of W760, which gives me 3000 fps
in my 700 classic with the 125 Partition. Very accurate as well. I would be tempted
to try Hybrid 100V with the lighter bullets. Dave.

I figure the length of TSX/TTSX will make them similar to a heavier lead bullet in terms of case capacity, etc.
I will have to investigate these other powders.

I load 50.0 grains RL-22 with 130's in my Ruger M77 MKII 6.5X55... that load shoots to the exact same POI in August or November... I have been using it for a decade, with boringly consistent results.

That's awesome to know. Do you know what kind of velocities you're getting?

all good but me best grouping powder is the win 760 whit 120 gr a-max hornady 40 gr of powder I hit 10 inch gong at 340 yards whit iron site whit a steyr 1897 whit the side fid box gor.krag
