Bit of a long shot here, but I'm starting to load for the new king of .264s--the mighty 6.5 Remington Mag--and scouring the very little published load data for it.

Planning to load up some 130 accubonds, and already have loads planned with IMR4831, H4350, RL19, RL22, and IMR 7828. I'm guessing RL 25 should do OK, but there's no data available. Anybody want to suggest a possible starting load for RL 25? Case capacity is very close to the '06 or .270 Win.

There aren't any loads published for RL25 in the 6.5 Rem mag, because that teeny case is too small for a powder as slow as RL25.

Use a full case.

Ive used RL25 in the 260 Remington with 140s. In fact, that powder gave me the highest velocity in my first 260 with 140 gr bullets. Ive also used it in the 280 Remington with good results, I cant see why it wont work in a 6.5 RM. If you can find 7828/H1000 data, that;ll get you close

Good suggestion--I'll try 7828 data and start low.

Gotta love a 130 at 3150 with lots less powder, and 2" less barrel, than that overbore barrel burner 'other' .264. Hail to the king baby!

The king is dead and the 6.5 RM aint far off ;).......my overbore barrel burner "other 264" has been burning out its original barrel since 1968 and still shoots an Inch with factory ammo.......

I love to poke the .264 guys... you've got such a sore spot that I'm guaranteed to get a reaction;-)

Just got my like-new 700 BDL 6.5 Rem Mag in the mail... time to figure out max OAL and do some loadin'. Already like that short belted case....

RL-22 From 55.5 grains to 59.5 grains
W-760 From 44.0 grains to 52.5 grains

All with Remington 9-1/2 primer.

And as an aside, the 6.5 Remington is no "new-comer". It has been around since 1966, and by 1972 is was almost dead. Remington was the only manufacturer to have a rifle chambered for it at that time.
