Gidday gents,

My new (to me) RL-550B press is setup, and after about 5 charges thrown with the large charge bar, it started sticking.

I disassembled everything, tore down the charge-bar setup, put in the small charge bar, which works fine, no sticking at all.

I don't see where the binding is happening, there's nothing in it (no powder) so I don't know what the problem is. Anyone have any insight?

Since the small charge-bar works, I would not tend to blame to body, but would point my finger at the charge-bar.

Ideas??

I had a similar problem with my old 550 and they sent me a mechanical linkage (it never fails to work).

So, call Dillon and see what they tell you. (They're very helpful)

I have had this problem as well, I used some light grit sand paper and sanded the underside of the charge bar, haven't had any problems since.

I had the exact same problem when I bought mine twenty years ago. I talked to dillon in scottsdale on the phone and they sent me a brand new large powder charge bar with powder vessel and the whole nine yards free of charge delivered to my door.by the way if you are a pistol reloader, try their dies they are second to none.

Mine doesn't completely stick but seems to "chatter" as it closes on the upstroke. It does it with the small and large charge bars. Just finished loading 1500 rounds so I am going to take it all apart now and give it a good cleaning now that I have some down time.
