RO question

I don't think you have any specified "right" to that information, but if you are black-badge qualified, you should have a good enough grasp of the rules to be able to figure out yourself who's shooting in which division. (???)

just look for Glock without mag well, or most Beretta's, CZ with hammer down might be production shooters, and anyone shooting 9mm will be production. Most 1911 style pistols are standard, unless there are optics.

the point is that last week during a match i thought i was the only one in my squad shooting in production, all the rest of shooters where open or standard.
the problem is that there was a shooter with an 1911 .40 with magwell and was shooting from SA, was production too when i saw the resalts:mad:

it's not the first time that hapened, i'm sure that the RO'S are doing there job, but they shold check for ur division just before u shoot..........

cheers

so next time i will need to know how's shooting in my class;)

At IPSC Alberta matches a list of competitors including which division they're registered in is posted after registrations are complete.....

I take it that you didn't see the results until a long time afterwards?

If you saw the preliminary results prior to posting of finals, then it would have been within your rights to file a third party arbitration to have him bumped into the correct division or into open as the rules specify.

This is one of the things that a scorekeeper is supposed to do when you come up for your run (check mag and holster positions, see that the firearm qualifies for the stated division), and let the RO know if something's unusual. I've shot in matches where people who would've qualified for Production CHOSE to shoot in Standard. In a Level III, this is also done at the chrono bench.

It could very well be a simple case of data entry error.

I know I have been guilty of that before.

It does not mean that the competitor was trying anything fast and loose.

yeah I've seen a few people mis-entered on results, usually it's fixed when someone points it out.

It's probably just a clerical error; it's easy on WINMSS to slip someone into the wrong division when entering them into the match, especially when they had previously shot in another division. You might want to point it out to the statistican so they can enter competitors more carefully.

mistakes can happen. If you think there is a problem or a mistake was made, then mention it during the end results.

Standard and Open division do allow 9mm, however Standard division would require you to be scored as Minor Power Factor. ;) :)

yeah I know, but very few people shoot open without an optic, and shooting minor in standard is not smart, unless you are getting all "A"'s.

Please don't wait until the end results. Your friendly neighbourhood stats officer would really appreciate not having to do final results all over again.

As has been pointed out, it was probably an unintentional data entry error. The sooner it is caught, the easier it is for everyone.
