So we had an Ithaca Mag-10 come into the store on trade in today. Not sure why anyone would want a 10 gauge that only accepts 3.5" magnum rounds but oh well.

All the blueing is gone, stock could be redone (no cracks), works totally fine.

Do these things have any worth? Not sure if we will reblue it and redo the wood or just try to sell it as is.

Obviously it has value or you wouldn't have taken it in on trade... Well that or "the store" won't be around long.

Yes it has the trade in value of about $200 but just wondering if it was worth the time or restoring it or just sell it as is.

Winter is coming, and people are always looking for projects to keep them occupied. Sell it as is.

If it is an original Roadblocker the gun should be parkerized not blued I believe. No checkering on the wood and a 21" non-ribbed barrel. That is what I remember of the last one I seen some years back.

10 gauge with a 21" barrel?! I bet that is fun to shoot...

This is the same model. The wood could use some oil and the metal is worn to almost "silver"

What is the barrel length ? is there a vent rib on the barrel ?

A Mag 10 with that kind of use could use some new springs through out too.

Because unless you have hulls and a reloading press the 2 7/8" hull is a thing of the past. There hasn't been a 2 7/8" 10 ga commercial load available in decades, that's why!!

As for worth? My buddy had one in a 32" Deluxe version from brand new and could only get $250 for it when he sold it. They had a reputation for jamming often. His was into the gunsmiths often with issues. When I went looking for one in the 90's I settled on the Gold 10 and have never looked back. Its 10x the gun the Ithica ever was!

P.S. The first time I tore my Gold 10 down to clean it and get it ready to use my first reaction was "geez this is a beefed up version of a Super X1!" Turns out I wasn't far wrong. The Gold 10 was designed by the same guy who designed the SX1 and we all know that the SX1 is arguably the best GAS OPERATED autoloader ever produced. Their toughness, quality and reliability are second to none!
