I just picked up my XCR today SWEET!!.

Can the flash supp be removed? I have a smith vortex lying around and would like to put it on.

:ar15:

If memory serves they are pinned.. So yes it can be removed... easily no so much

I just in the wolverine forum they are welded.. if so then that's another kettle of fish...

A Pinned and Welded flash hider (muzzle device) does not effect the Firearms classification does it?
The barrel still has to be 18.5"+ to be non-restricted.
It can't be 18" with a 1" flash hider welded on and be considered 19" can it?

the barrel refers to the threaded amount. the currently threaded bit it what .5 .6 inches... if it's .61 after being chopped the barrel is no longer 18" and I think that changes the class....

I'd have to look up the regs.. But

I have one of the XCR's that came in with the light (3.5#) trigger and the ambi-saftey.The flashhider on it was removed by grinding the weld that holds the pin in. The weld will look like a small raised "bump" on the bottom of the flashhider. Once the weld is removed (very minimal grinding) an educated whack with a rubber mallet is all it took to get the pin out. Once the pin was out I just unscrewed it. Hope this helps.

The muzzle devices don't contribute to barrel length (I think they do in the states, but could be wrong). As stated, it is a US state department pile of bull, not a Canadian issue.

it's the pin that's welded not the FH... that does change things...

Just asked this question in the legal forum, but aye, in the states, welded on muzzle brake does change things; here, no. Wanted to get a 16 inch barrel with a welded on flash suppressor, but was a no go in Canada.

What other accessories are you thinking about adding? My XCR comes in this week, and I'm thinking about some iron sites for starters, an Atlas bipod + forward grip, magpul UBR stock, and some pmags if I can find any...

Hey, en plus we both live in montreal. Where do you shoot? Would be cool to know another XCRer in MTL.

Ha, I just signed up not a month ago at that very location. We must shoot then, in the new year, when I return from visiting family in Ontario.

I'll be in touch,
