Would it be feasable to have a match barrel made for my rob XCR? Who in canada would be willing to make one? I'd like to get a 6.5

I think the bigger question is if you put on a better than average barrel on the XCR, will it be able to take advantage of the 'betterness'?
No sense in trying to knit a purse from a sows ear.....

carlchevalier, are you thinking about using XCR's 7.62x39 bolt head and magazines with 6.5 Grendel?

If you get the barrel made, could you follow up with a range report?

P.S. My "Modern Reloading" 2nd ed is too old, and doesn't list 6.5 Grendel specs *grumble*, so I am assuming that 6.5 Grendel is based on 7.62x39

I take it your not a big fan of XCRs. Please feel free not to respond and lets try to keep this thread out of the redundant XCR bashing. OK!

notbsd, The first thing will be to determine if someone here is willing to make a barrel compatible to the XCR. Then assuming they can, is a match barrel swap going to be enough to make the rifle perform... I will keep you posted if it does happen.

Ammo' one thing, parts will also be a big challenge. the only parts available are the stock factory stuff, I doubt anybody's made any custom after market parts yet.

We asked Robinson last year about the possibility of doing just that, they didn't seem too interested in providing us with barrel extensions due to liability issues.

Liability issues, why? is it because the 6.5 grendel is owned by Alexander arms.

The question is more who would make one than how much.
I dont really care how much its costs, I cant immagine it being that expensive.

Heavy barrel doesn't necessarily mean match quality, though it would be interesting to see the results of a top notch match barrel on an XCR. Good thing is you could easily use the same rifle to test a standard and a match barrel to see the results.

I'm just raising a valid point about the platform. If you see that as 'bashing' your favorite product, so be it.
For others that are considering jumping on board with the idea, they may want to consider the limitations of accuracy are not due to the barrel...

Beltfed, has nothing to do with bashing my favorite product. I dont even think its a great rifle. I do like the fact that its Non-restricted and do have sufficient funds to explore the possibility of making it better. I doubt that changing the barrel will make this into a half moa sniper rifle. But it might and probably will improve its accuracy. I just didint want to turn this thread into another Its GREAT vs ITS CRAP thread. Hell if I dont like the results I can always buy a Swiss Arms

So beltfed how would you go about accurizing a XCR???
