So I had ordered the SU16FX and when I received I was a wee bit disappointed.

Forget that it was accidentally restricted due to barrel length, the rifle itself was pretty cheaply made.

I'm sure it would work just fine, in fact I've read many reviews that said its outward appearance was not indicative of its performance. It is light as a feather, non-restricted, and tan. - WIN! except the plastic... I just cant get past the plastic (This from the guy that carries a Glock for a living)

So I took a strong shot of whiskey, bit down on some leather, and pulled the trigger on purchasing a Robarms XCR-L in tan. This is the purchase I should have made in the first place - just so dang expensive!

This was not a lighthearted decision and involved hours upon hours of research (albeit the internet offers some strong opinions either way). I haven't gotten it yet but it's in the mail and I'm tracking it as it comes from B.C.

The one thing that I don't like about the XCR is its long noodle looking barrel. Heck, it looks like you might poke the zombie in the eye before you get to shootin' em'.

Now, I'm not one for hanging useless crap on my rifles but this thing makes me look like I sport a small phallus and have thus compensated for it.

Down to business:

Does anyone know of a fake suppressor that will hide about 8 inches of this barrel? Preferably one that's light weight?

I'd say just calm down and wait until you actually get the rifle.

The xcr seems too look much longer and "noodle like" in picture and videos (at least to me) but upon taking my xcr home and getting to know it it person, I think it has a well balanced look (mines a heavy barrel)

You will see what I mean when you get it. With the stock fully extended its 6 inches shorter than a standard hunting rifle (Remington 700 in my case) and about 2 inches longer than a NR cz/VZ 58 if you have that for comparison

Edit - to actually answer our question, I have no idea where to get a fake suppressor sorry haha!

I've seen fake supressors clamp on to an A2 birdcage and extened beyond the muzzle. I picked one up because I thought it looked cool at the time, even mounted it and looked at it for a while, thinking too bad it wasn't real. But then I came to my senses and took it off before I made the mistake of trying it out at the range and getting publically humilliated. $50 not well spent.

I've also seen some at various local gun shops, I think it might have been Reliable Gun? Anyway, this one I saw threaded onto to the muzzle, but shroud the barrel itself.

There's a TON on amazon.com, but they could be ITAR controlled (god knows why they would be, but hey, who knows).

Doesn't matter how light weight the fake suppressor, you are still putting on more weight onto a rifle that is already consider by some to be nose heavy, wait for you get your rifle handle the thing a few time before you start bolting more stuff on it.

hmmmm... advice taken.

No fake can for me.

But hey man, in the end it's your rifle and you picked a dam good one. If you want a can get a can. I don't find the xcr to be that heavy at all and don't think a thin fake can would be noticed to much. My post above was just pointing out that I thi k you'll fall in love with its looks like I did when I got mine. Dont forget to post pics in the xcr thread in the stickies when you get it. I'm very jelous you got a tan one, everything except black was sold out when I got mine!

Edit - realized your su16 was tan sorry haha

MFIAP.com makes one that hides barrel length. customize to length you want.

If you're just looking to hide some of the barrel length to give the gun a more balanced appearance and the barrel diameter is not more than .75" this is all you need:

You would have to find someone to export it, however. I had one years ago in pre-ITAR days that I put on a 16" skinny barrel AR-15 carbine I built to give it an XM177 look. Actually looked pretty good. Sold the gun years ago, however.
