XCR is a great platform. There was a time when I owned 5 of them. But with the introduction of so many new NR platforms I'm afraid it prime time is over. I've replaced all but 1 of my XCR's with NR receiver set builds.
The introduction of NR ar15 parts compatible receiver sets (MDI, ATRS, Stag 10) has completely knocked the wind out of the XCR's sails (sales). Low cost NR alternatives such as the WK180-C and Kel-Tec RDB have also been a big setback to the XCR's market share. Heck, you can even get an X95 for less than the cost of an XCR.
In order for it to stay competitive in today's market there's going to have to be a significant reduction in pricing.
I still think the XCR is a great platform but I don't consider it to be a viable alternative to the AR platform. In it's prime time in Canada it WAS a viable alternative simply due to the fact that it was the closest thing ergonomically to the AR that came with the NR status.
Not trying to steer you away from an XCR if that's what you want. You will be happy with one. I just personally don't think it's any longer the viable NR AR alternative it once was. Especially given the (still) high price point.
Knock an XCR-L down to the $2K range and I think it would be back in the game.
