This is Taiwan's answer to SCAR

Early observations:

-The operating system of the XT97 is more akin to the M14 rather than the FNH SCAR-the short-stroked piston pushing the op-rod and bolt carrier assembly. The weight ratio of the bolt carrier assembly is estimated to be 1:5, speculating the ROF to be around 650rpm.

-Like the preceding T86/91, the piston can be removed from the front, which makes cleaning and maintenance easier.

-The folding stock release lever looks identical to the ones on fire selector.

I don't see why they would make a 9mm version just for simunition as simunition comes in 5.56mm as well.

9mm Sims are cheaper and there is a minimum safe distance that is recommended for 5.56 sims(3ft??? someone correct me here). It is not always possible to make that when training indoors especially when using a real dwelling instead of a Sims room.

Norinco could copy it, but why? Canada isnt a market that could keep this gun afloat let alone pay for all the tooling and work it would take to make a working version.
