Rochester Brooks is holding their 3-Gun the weekend of July 16 - 18-th this year. The application is on rbps.net and the Area 7 and ELS web sites.

Anyone going?

I copied the text from an invitation letter. Sorry about that, corrected the dates, so match is Friday to Sunday and I think you can shoot it all in one day, or you can even shoot handgun only, or rifle only or shotgun only if you want. See the match application at http://rbps.net/download/2010app.pdf

The only thing is that Sharon Open is the same weekend...

Can you elaborate please?

I'm shooting a pistol match in NY this weekend, I know there is extra paperwork, but I'm not aware of any modifications that I have to make to my AR.

Essentially NY has it's own AWB... So, no flash hiders, bayo-lugs etc.

I've been to many pistol matches in NY and have never had a problem... Mainy police matches, but... As I understand for anyone possess a HG in NY regardless of a Form6NIA you must also have a NY state pistol lic.
There are provisions for those just "passing through", but... I don't know if that covers us going directly to a range and then back home across the border...

Your AR is an Assault weapon in NY....

A few more tid bits from NY's law books on the subject

Non-residents

It is unlawful for any person to carry, possess or transport a handgun in or through the state unless he has a valid New York license. (A provision of federal law provides a defense to state or local laws which would prohibit the passage of persons with firearms in interstate travel if the person is traveling from any place where he may lawfully possess and transport a firearm to any other place where he may lawfully possess and transport such firearm and the firearm is unloaded and in the trunk. In vehicles without a trunk, the unloaded firearm shall be in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console).

A
Non-resident target shooters may enter or pass through New York State with handguns for the purposes of any NRA approved competition or IHMSA sanctioned match, within 48 hours of the competition, if the competitor has in his possession a copy of the match program, proof of entry and a pistol license from his state of residence.

Didn't know about the AWB...that essentially rules out my rifle.

I actually looked at the NY state Penal code and it doesn't seem to single out only NRA approved matches....from what I understand, you just need a match confirmation/registration along with the pistol license or registration certification of the area where you reside. This constitutes prima facie evidence of exemption.

Needless to say, I have the NRA match approval for this coming match anyways, but it doesn't look like I'll be doing any 3 gun stuff.

Do you shoot many matches close to the border, say Buffalo or Lewiston area?
