Sorry if this has been done to death but couldn't find anything.

I was in C-tire today looking for a low prices 22 and the old timer behind the gun counter showed me a Rock Islands 22. Which is essentially a Ruger 10/22 knockoff. My first general impression was it felt solid, the stock was a little bulky buy I've got good size mitts so it wasn't uncomfortable. It was priced at $169.99 which I had a hard time walking away from.

Does anyone have any personal experiences with these rifles.

Fasten your seatbelt. :p There will be everything from soup to nuts as far as a review goes.

I have one that I removed the ugly paint and gave it a few coats of linseed oil, mounted an old Burson scope on. I have used it for a couple of years as my gopher gun, off and on. I intend to not clean it until it won't function any more. It has worked like a charm so far. They come with a 10 shot, steel lipped Butler Creek magazine.

Apparently, some parts will interchange with a Ruger and some will not. Doesn't matter to me, as I am not into "building" rifles. I have several different magazines, some well used, and they all function in my rifle.

The naysayers will tell you to buy a Ruger for nearly the same price. The cheapest plain 10/22 I saw at Swift Current show this week was $319.99 + $32 tax = as close to $350 as you can get. At 170 + $17 tax (in SK) = $187. at that price, $187 x 2= $375. Not hard to figure out which is the cheapest.

My gun partner and I bought several and sold them all at gun shows. Probably made $10 each on them!

I bought mine just to see what it would do as an ordinary plinker/gopher gun. I tend to fire a lot of warning shots with any of my guns, so I can't honestly advise you that it is of Olympic quality accuracy. Those kind of guns tend to run you a bit more $$. :p

Fine guns if you like them as is....
Barrels don't interchange with 10/22, and anything with a thread is different as well. I had one for a bit and it was fine....very reliable, not as accurate as I hoped for.
