I was on the Gun Dealer web site this AM and they just put up several Rock Island Armory clones of the Ruger 10/22, brand new rifles. Price is shown as $149.99.
Anyone have any experience with these? I figure they must be Chinese manufacture for that price. No doubt they will go fast.

Not a thing wrong with them, I was the 1st person in Canada to own one. Nice heavy wood stock and functions just like the Ruger. 99% of the parts are interchangeable except the barrel. All other after market parts bolt right on. I've put thousands of rounds down the pipe and had zero problems.

They are not Chinese, they are made in the Philippines.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about them, but I’ve also heard there are several parts that are not interchangeable and not to the same spec as the Ruger 10/22? I was thinking about getting one, but because I had ordered a .920 barrel and rails already, I needed a receiveR that could accept aftermarket barrels and rails for the Ruger. I read that they are different specs so I didn’t want to take a chance and get the RIA only to find out it wouldn’t work.

Seems like a lot of retailers are blowing them out at dirt cheap prices though so if you plan on leaving it stock, or just changing a few simple things like the stock, they’re a helluva deal.

Wow, someone beat me to the punch in posting a thread about this today.

I was looking into one as well as a cheaper alternative to plink with until my RPAL is complete. I was curious mainly whether or not ATI AR-15 stocks are compatible with the RIA 10/22 without modification?

Anyone in the know, please let me know.

As a warning, if you have any problems with a RIA you might be waiting to get it fixed. I have one of their MIG 22s and it has been non-functional for about eight months now. My continuing correspondence with their rep Luis has resulted in nothing. He says they are still sorting out a service path up here. I hope, for sanity's sake, that none of you have any problems with your rifles.

Everything can be fixed with 10/22 parts on these...except the barrel.

RIA .22 - Ruger 10/22 clone is manufactured by ARMSCOR, not from a Chinese company. They have a good line of 1911s, they also make MAP series of Pistols from Tanfoglio. Shotguns, Revolvers, Airguns and several rebranded 1911s including STI Spartan. They use to make Charles Daly before it was moved to Israel. I do not have one. But based on third party reviews, they are good 10/22 clone. I read from anoter forum that they were sued by Ruger for patent infringement. Considering the rights for 10/22 is no longer exclusive to Ruger (as to the 1911s), it must have been dropped. I've seen several firearms from RIA/ARMSCOR, and definitely they have quality compared to the comparable chinese clones.

Ruger 10/22 is a proven platform compared to MIG 22.... I hope you can sort it out with RIA.

So the barrel is not an interchangeable part. I saw an RIA on EE for $150 because the owner was a bit peeved about the barrel thing. Glad I did my research first, but for those of you still shopping for a "clone", be advised that this is one thing to pay close attention to.

I picked one up from tse's black friday sale, had it and an old eaton's/cooey out today (was in wss yesterday, picked up the 3-9 bushnell's that are on sale, sighted them in today).

I"d say the old cooey is sliiigghtly more accurate, both shoot about a 1.5-2" group from 50yds (offhand so it could be me). The cooey seemed to get more bullseye cloverleafs. Neither cycles that winchester 555 ammo, not enough kick to eject the shell, just enough to pick up the next shell and catch the last one sideways just in time to stop the bolt.

I like it, it feels nice to shoulder and shoot. Pretty hard to go wrong when you consider a new 22 with 3-9 bushnell for under 200 bucks.

Look out gophers! :)

I took one out of our resale pile and cleaned the crappy paint off the stock. Other than some bondo to fix flaws in the wood, it turned out okay. I shot it a fair bit this summer and had no trouble.
