lebaron has non-pivoting Rock Mount bipods for about $56. anyone have any experiences with them? im looking to put together a .223 to shoot off a bench, and $56 is quite a good price.

or should i stick with the more expensive harris or versapods?

I have both and IMHO I would recommend the harris, I find the problem with the rock mount is that the springs are weaker then the harris and you find yourself needing to apply forward presure to keep it stable. also the tightening screw is metal on the harris and can be tightened with an allen key, plastic for the rock mount.

I have a rock mount that I switch between rifles.

It's a cheap knock off of a harris, and works as such. That being said, what do you expect out of a bipod? Flip the legs down, extend as required, and shoot.

I think it's a good deal for the dollar.

I use Harris exclusively, and find them to be awesome.

For the extra $50 or so difference in price, buy the quality piece the first time, and you won't regret it!

An extra $50 for peace of mind is well worth it to me.

My earthpig hunting buddy bought one. As we pulled his rig out of his bag, the spring assy fell apart... luckily all of it remained inside the case.

During our lunch break (from hunting in the Quebec afternoon) we examined all the parts and by looking at my Harris, we successfully put that knockoff back together.

He is STILL happy with the $ 50 deal he got. I'll hang on to my Harris, and keep shopping for more Harris bipods in the EE Forum here... better deals to be had in our CGN community.....

Cheers,
Barney
