First Annual Ground Hog Shoot
August 16 & 17, 2014
*** (50 shooters max. first 50 paid registrants) *** There will be 4 classes of shoots.
NO 50 CAL BMG allowed (our range is not certified for this calibre) NO one piece rests allowed i.e., sleds. NO muzzle brakes allowed. This is an off the bench shoot, however if you feel your good enough to shoot free hand you may do so standing beside your bench. The firearm you start with in your class is the one you finish with. (No replacements).
YOUTH CLASS –15 years and under, Distances will be 100m, 200m and 300m.
OPEN CLASS – NO 50 Cal BMG. All other weight and calibres allowed. Bi-pods and sights (any magnification allowed). Everything goes. Distances will be 200m, 300m, and 400m.
HEAVY HUNTER AND VARMINT - Max weight 13.5 lbs. including bi-pod and sights (any magnification allowed). Distances will be 200m 300m and 400m.
HUNTER CLASS - Max weight 10.5 lbs. including bi-pod and sights (any magnification allowed). Distances will be 100m, 200m and 300m.
IRON OPEN SIGHT CLASS - Bolt or lever action. Max weight 10 lbs., less sling, safe trigger. No magnification allowed. Distances will be 100m, 200m, and 300m.
TIME: 8:00 - 8:30 registration and weigh in.
8:30 - 9:00 introduction and safety meeting.
9:00 am First rally commences.
REGISTRATION FEE: - $ 50.00 per adult and $ 30.00 for juniors (ages 15 and under). All shooters will be allowed 2 classes max for your registration fee. Registration fee will be by cheque or money order, made payable to Rocky Rod and Gun Club. Please mail your name, phone number, age, registration fee, and which class/classes you wish to partake in to:

All registration fees must be received no later than August 8, 2014 to qualify.
NSF fee of $ 40.00 will apply.
This will be a timed event, with unlimited sighters. Five shots per target.
Each shooter will receive a coupon that will entitle them to a hot dog and drink. You may purchase more for the ones with big appetites. Please bring extra cash for draws etc.
Don't forget, your ear and eye protection, bug spray, lawn chairs and of course your fire arms of choice and enough ammo for 50 rounds.
PRIZES - 1st, 2nd and 3 place prizes for each class will be awarded and one best overall for each day.
We are looking into local campgrounds. If you require a campsite, please make mention of this with your registration. As there will be no camping allowed on the range.
Access to Range A will be open to all members and shooters on Friday August 15, 2014 from 5:00 - 9:00 pm for practice. If you are not a member of the range your name must be on the shooters list.

First Annual R.R.G.C. Ground Hog Shoot Rules

Weigh in will commence at Friday July 15, 2014 at noon and will continue until Saturday July 16, 2014 at 8:30 am. If your rifle does not have a weight sticker for the class you are shooting, you will be disqualified.
There will be NO SIGHT INS on the day of the match.

NO coaching of any kind except for juniors. Juniors will require an adult within arm’s reach at all times while on the line.

There is a protest fee of $ 5.00. If protest is upheld the fee will be returned.
MATCH DIRECTOR’S DECISION IS FINAL.

CLEANING of rifles between relays will be permitted ONLY in the designated cleaning area provided.

NO one piece rests allowed.

Each match will involve 3 distances for each competitor. You will maintain your same competitor number throughout the match.

If you are shooting two classes the division on your targets will be a letter designation. E.g. 7A, 7B, etc.

In case of a crossfire the decision of the target committee and the match director is final.

Only 5 shots on score targets. More than 5 shots on the score target will give you a final score of 0 in that relay.

As soon as the shooters are done a relay and line is cleared of equipment, the next relay shooters will immediately begin setting up their equipment. But NOT rifle. The match director will call the shooters and their firearms to the line. At that point your 2 minute prep time will commence.

You will be given 5 minutes to complete 5 shots in your score target.

All firearms on line will be cleared by an R.S.O. and chamber flagged before being removed from the firing line.

All firearms require a safe trigger. Any firearms going off due to closing of bolt etc. will be promptly removed from firing line by R.S.O.

Whatever firearm you start the match with will be the firearm you end the match with. (There will be no exchanging of a firearm during a match. Unless a misfire or unsafe trigger, then a second previously weighed rifle may be used. (THIS WILL BE AT THE DISCRETION OF THE SHOOT DIRECTOR)

All Shooters NOT taking part in the relay will remain behind the cease fire line (Yellow line) at ALL times.

The match director’s may at their discretion weigh any gun after a relay.
Winning rifles may be weighed before trophies are awarded.

ALL rifles will be shot and loaded one single shell at a time.
