I don't have one of my own, but I have been working in and around Dawson Creek for 2 years now (where they are located). I have seen and heard excellent reviews of their RMR rifles. They have done action, trigger and barrel work for me, as well as powdercoating for coworkers. I would recommend them.
I have been emailing back and forth with Tim and Rod, the owners, about some of their work myself. I am looking on getting a rifle built from the ground up. Gary from Russell Sports in Calgary brought them to my attention as he highly recommends them. Gary actually has a testimonial on their web page. Throughout our emailing its sure seems like they know what they are doing and their pricing seems fair. Good luck with what ever decision you make.
I've done business with them as well, and aside form being very skillful gunsmiths, they have always shown themselves to be honest, ethical people to do business with. Nowadays, I think that impresses me most of all.
Will I just went ahead with Rocky mountian rifles for my long range shooter. Going with a A4 McMillan tactical stock #8 heavy barrel powder coat complete rifle arctic camo I will be mounting a Mark 4 LR/T scope on this. This set up should work.
I bought a scope from them but have never shot their rifles. Handled them though...very nice. They'd be my choice for a lightweight (ultralight) hunting rifle. For LR I'd go with ATR. No slight against RMR, but Rick is my go-to guy for LR stuff.
I'v had work done by RMR, nice stuff, my only ##### is that they were exceptionally slow for me. For a barrel set-back and rechamber, thread muzzle and install muzzle weight, and powder coat, I was told 6-to-8 weeks. It was 11 months 1 week.
They did a re-barrel and some odds and ends for me a year ago. Everything came back on time and the bill was as quoted.
I sent a very detailed list of specs and then spent a fair bit of time with both Tim and Rod on the phone, making sure they knew exactly what was expected.
Good people to deal with. Bought my first high power rifle from Jack Schram when he ran the tiny little store in Dawson. Rod did the barreling and chambering on my 1K rifle and will be doing any other work I need done.
