OK, so you guys have convinced me to order the wads and roll crimper to make my own sabots. I've seen the videos on roll crimping. My questions are: can I recycle star crimped shells? Do I leave the shells, new or old, at the 2 3/4 length or do I have to trim them? Also, can I reload roll-crimped? Thanx. I'm really hoping to be able to make some slugs for less than $4 a shot.

I think most guys trim off the crimp. You don't need much material for the roll. There is also a hull conditioner, iirc, which gets rid of the fold crimps. Don't hold me to that as my mind get fuzzy once in a while. Done a few roll crimps but never reloaded one more than once

SO, if I bought some new, virgin shells to load, would I need to cut the down? My shotties are chambered for 3", but would I need some sort of filler between the wad and powder charge? Does anyone know where I can get some specific info on this type of slug loading?
