From an estate... I am trying to establish a value.

The bore is very bright and shiny.

I am in the Victoria, BC area.

I am going to take a guess at around $600 on the Island. It seems to have a Remington receiver and not sure if the barrel is US with Egyptian markings or was made in Egypt. I sold one last year for around $400, I think because the muzzle was quite worn (as in funnel shaped ) I think the condition of the muzzle would be important for someone to buy it as a shooter

Thanks. This bore and muzzle are surprisingly good. I think it would make a good shooter. I believe there is one box of factory ammo available.

most guys will buy them for just the action, my first roller was an Egyptian and it was quickly ripped apart and a made into a 45/70 ...Badger Barrel , tree bone wood ,parts unknown tang sight.

I think possibly up to $750. I have on and left it the way it is and shoot smokeless out of it. Bertram makes brass for it. RCBS made a mold and may find one around. Would sell for $1200+ if you had mold and cases. Amazing rifles.

While I would do the same if the barrel were poor, this one is described as having good rifling at the muzzle and I think warrants preserving in its original state. I have seen relatively few rolling blocks in original condition, in recent times. The one that I shoot currently, I bought from Lever Arms in Vancouver, for about $75 around 40 years ago. At that time they had a bunch of them in a wooden barrel and all were in tired condition

I have a remington made in 1875 that probably never went out of the country.Incredible bbl and ammunition can be made with 50-90 brass and dies are avaibable.I would agree with the 1250.

Is it a difficult job to convert a .43 to .45-70?

You'd need a new barrel, sights & a new extractor.

But once you have the brass, dies & a mould, why bother, as in the situation where you buy a barrel, sights, extractor, even if you're not paying to have it done, you're still getting close to a used, modern Rolling Block reproduction.

I own a 43 egyptian rolling Block , brass and die was more cheap 20 years ago …
A Belgian copy but a lot of fun to use.

Good old rifle !!
