Rookie Long Distance Question...

each gun has thier own likes. My .223 loves 55gr. FMJs, but my sons .223 scatters them. His likes 68gr bullets. You may have to test and reload until you find the one your gun likes.

For just plinking, any 165, 168 or 175 grain bullet will do. For long range accuracy, 168 grain match bullets out to 600 yards, 175 grain match bullets past there. All using IMR4064 or Varget.

The 168 Sierra is NOT a long range bullet.

You did not mention what you mean by "long distance". I have shot the 308 in competition back to 1200 yards.

Match bullets in 155, 175 and 190 are the bullets of choice in 308 with the 155 being the most popular choice.

Try your rifle with a box of each and see what it likes. RL15 would be a good powder to use.
