I know, this isn't milsurp, but I would bet there are more folks here familiar with these rifles than in the hunting gun section. I looked at a 1910 Ross model R sporter today in .303. This is a factory sporter, not a cut down (serial number on barrel, barrel mounted open sight, marked .303 Ross). I would describe the outer metal about 60-70% finish, the bore has a good layer of fine rust, possibly a fair bit of wear. There is a plain plate screwed onto the reciever where the battle sight normally would mount. The wood is about 70%, no visible cracks a few dings here and there, very dark. The bolt appears stuck in the action, open (the locking lugs are currently vertical, not horizontal). What would a fair price be for a beasty like this? Sorry, there is no way I can get pictures of this unless I buy it. I have a feeling the price is a little high, but I would like other opinions. Thanks.
